Acer Aspire V3 & Aspire V5 Series Notebook Specs and Price

Today, the Taiwan-based tech corporation Acer announced at the CeBIT show that it is launching two new Acer Aspire Series of portable computers dubbed V3 and V5. The former will incorporate 14-, 15.6- and 17.3-inch notebooks, whereas the latter delivers laptops with 11.6-, 14- and 15.6-inch displays.

The Acer Aspire V3 Series – Featuring brand new Intel Core processors for ultimate efficiency & performance. Also equipped with Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 and a chiclet style keyboard, the V3 series really is setting a new standard in ultra portable computing!

Hot off the tails of the Acer Aspire V5 is another new release from Acer. This time it’s the Acer Aspire V3 notebook, which comes in any one of three configurations, with 14, 15.6 and 17.3-inch screens in-tow. Each variation will be powered by an Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processor, with NVIDIA GeForce GT series graphics throwing up the visuals. As with the V5, specs are difficult to come by at this point, though Acer has confirmed that the 17.3-inch model will include a 1600 x 900 pixel display. There’s Blu-ray, HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 3.0 on board, as well as support for SSD and hard drive combos (17.3-inch model only). Aesthetically, it’ll launch in three colors (black, gold and gray) when it eventually debuts in Q2 of this year. Pricing starts at €400 (about $520) for the entry-level spec, rising to €900 (roughly $1180) at the top end.

Acer says that the V3 notebooks will be driven by Ivy Bridge central processing units and will be equipped with LED-backlit CineCrystal displays (the 17.3-inch unit offers an HD+ native resolution of 1600-by-900 pixels).

Furthermore, customers will be provided with a latest NVIDIA GeForce GT Series graphics controller, USB 3.0 ports, a multi-in-1 memory card reader slot and a 720p front-facing web camera for video calls.

Acer V5 Series

The maker claims “the current trend is towards thinner and lighter notebooks with the capability for infotainment consumption and content creation anytime, anywhere” and the laptops in the series were apparently created with this in mind. According to a company press release, these models will be 30% slimmer than the rest in the same class and will ship with high-performance Intel CPUs, and an NVIDIA GeForce GT GPU (or an integrated Intel HD video card).

Users can also take advantage of the full-sized keyboard with a click-pad, Acer’s Instant Connect technology, which “automatically scans and registers most-visited access points”, the integrated LAN/VGA combo or the built-in USB 3.0 ports.

A Netbooknews report indicates that the smallest member of the V5 series (11.6-inch) will be called Acer Aspire One V5; it will sport an Intel Pentium/Celeron processor and an HD display. This netbook will reportedly be available in Europe in Q2 of this year for $499.
