Titanic The Artifact Exhibition Singapore Review

For those who have not gone for the Titanic Exhibition, you should mark it on your calendars as an “Exhibition to visit” before it ends in April.

Earlier this year, the hubby and I went for the Titanic Artifact Exhibition, held at the Art Science Museum at the Marina Bay Sands. We are not particularly huge fans of the movie Titantic, but since the exhibition has made it’s Southeast Asia debut in Singapore, we definitely didn’t want to miss it.

Titanic Exhibition in Singapore! Real Objects, real storiesL:The long awaited Titanic has finally set sailed in Singapore!

Yes, it’s been a long while and I finally made my trip there! What can I say, the exhibition is good! It’s one of those rare times where I will actually read all the notes that were up.

Lots of stuffs that were left behind by survivors that lived to tell the story.

Also, they showed you how 1st class, 3rd class cabin looked like! The re creations of the different places made the journey more wonderful. Walking down the rooms, it constantly reminded me of the movie, which never failed to make me cry. (can’t wait for the 3D to come by the way)

Did you know that it costs about $105 000 equivalent now for a first class ticket to board the Titanic? A 3rd class would costs around $900 now?

It’s a pity I can’t take pictures inside. But be sure to hold own to your boarding pass (an exact replica of how the boarding pass looked like) to check if the name on the boarding pass that you own was a survivor. There is also a small description of who the person was. Interesting yeah?

Me? ‘I survived’

Titanic viewed by over 25 million people worldwide is an exhibition that you wouldn’t want to miss. Be sure to check out the iceberg gallery where you get a rough feel of the temperature when titanic hit an iceberg.

Ticket prices for Titanic and the ArtScience exhibition costs S$20 for Singapore resident adults, S$18 for Singapore residents aged 65 and above and S$13 for Singapore resident children aged 2 to 12.

On 15 April 1912, the RMS Titanic met an untimely end when it sank after colliding with an iceberg in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. The accident claimed the lives of over 1,500 passengers, who brought with them hopes that were never realised and dreams that never came true.

But no story really ends. Relive the promise, grandeur, and tragedy of the world’s largest Ship as Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition makes its Southeast Asian debut at ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition features 275 artifacts recovered from the Ship’s wreckage – including 14 pieces never seen before – housed in galleries meticulously recreated to resemble various iconic sections of the Ship. The Exhibition will take visitors of all ages through key milestones in the Titanic’s story, from its conception and construction through to life on board and wreckage its sinking, as well as the incredible stories of its passengers and crew.

Visitors will also get to learn the story behind the discovery of the Titanic wreck in 1985 and the subsequent efforts made to monitor and recover artifacts from the site. Finally, a special “Singapore 1912″ gallery will show the impact and influence of the Titanic’s sinking on Singapore.

Titanic Exhibition Singapore Description:

Experience the legend like never before.

In April 1912, the world’s largest Ship set sail with over 2,200 people on board. Four days later, she sank in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. Now, nearly 100 years later, the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands will bring to life the timeless story of RMS Titanic, her passengers and crew in Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition.

Take a closer look at up to 300 real artefacts, 14 of which have never been seen before, recovered from the ocean floor following the disaster like the Eccentric Strap and Telegraph; along with re-creations of the iceberg, the ship’s first-class. These artifacts were rescued from more than 3,800m below the ocean surface at the Ship’s final resting place, offering visitors a poignant look at this iconic Ship and her passengers.

Besides featuring a to-scale Titanic model, you will also get to know of personal accounts regarding the tragedy – each highlighting a different chapter in the compelling story of Titanic’s maiden voyage. With a Discovery Gallery showing videos of the artefact recovery expedition from the wreckage site, a Memorial Gallery commemorating lives lost and an interactive corner for adults and kids alike, this is an interesting exhibition not to be missed by you and your family. Interestingly, images of Singapore in 1912 – the year that the ship sunk – will also be showcased for a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
