2011 Columbus Day in US: Howard Beach was awash in green, white and red on Sunday, when more than 10,000 people celebrated Italian heritage at the annual parade Howard Beach Columbus Day Foundation. Newly elected U.S. Rep. Bob Turner (R-Queens and Brooklyn), State Senator Joe Addabbo Jr. (D-Howard Beach) and City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park) joined Fund officials, including President Mario Faulisi, for Columbus Parade. Almost countless number of community organizations, participation, and the day was filled with music, Italian folk dancing and more singing. A crowd of more than 10,000 people enjoyed the floats, including this one of Christopher Columbus.
